Arts

Three arts. One system.

Xingyiquan moves in straight lines — the principle of a single strike.
Baguazhang moves in circles — the way of endless change.
Shinkage-ryū holds a wooden sword — the space between real and feint.

Different paths. The same mountain.

Baguazhang
Walk the circle. Everything in Baguazhang begins with walking the circle. There are no fixed techniques. Change is the technique. Walking is the method. Your body moves along the arc, weight shifting ceaselessly.
Xingyiquan
One fist. The core of Xingyiquan is not complicated. Five element fists: splitting, crushing, drilling, pounding, crossing. Simple enough to make you wonder if this qualifies as martial arts.
Yagyū Shinkage-ryū
Between the sword and the self. Yagyū Shinkage-ryū originates from Japan's Sengoku period. Shinkage-ryū does not pursue the killing blow. Control is not force. It is reading the other's rhythm.
