Honored to be featured in NYCU Alumni Magazine (友聲), January 2026 Issue No. 468, discussing my perspective on Baguazhang through an engineering and embodied-thinking lens.
In the interview, I emphasize that the essence of Baguazhang does not lie in complex techniques, but in how the body is used.
The demonstrated fundamental attacks and counters reflect the core principle of Baguazhang:
working with momentum rather than confronting force head-on.
Through continuous body rotation, stepping transitions, and the integrated sequence of move, evade, and strike, practitioners learn to remain stable within motion. Power emerges not from tension, but from coordination, timing, and the ability to release.
This approach highlights a deeper rhythm of offense and defense, where structure and adaptability coexist. It is also where traditional martial arts align naturally with modern concepts of biomechanics, systems thinking, and embodied intelligence.
