Three years of Bajiquan training, three years of Hōzan-ryū Iaido, three years of Daitō-ryū Aikijūjutsu, two-time champion of the Shinbu Cup MMA Tournament.

Master Zhang Wen-Teng, born in Kaohsiung in 1979, developed a strong interest in martial arts during his childhood, influenced by novels and animation. However, it was not until he was admitted to university through the gifted math and science program that he began formally learning Chinese martial arts. During his martial arts training, he applied his expertise in physics to analyze what he was learning, accumulating numerous doubts and questions. In graduate school, he shifted his focus to Japanese iaido, aikijūjutsu, and MMA, ultimately winning two MMA championship titles. Despite these achievements, his doubts about martial arts deepened, leading him to conclude, "That's all there is to martial arts; there's nothing more to learn." He then turned his attention to gymnastics, parkour, and strength training. In 2013, he left his job in the Hsinchu Science Park to establish the Extreme Fitness Academy.
In 2014, he rented his venue to Master Wu Bo-Feng to host a Baguazhang workshop led by Master Luo De-Xiu. During this two-day course, many of Zhang's long-standing questions were answered. He was astonished to discover that martial arts are not merely about memorizing techniques or practicing set responses to attacks but can be approached like mathematics or physics—through understanding, observation, and application. Basic principles could even be used to deduce or create new techniques. His passion for martial arts reignited, and he immediately joined Master Luo’s group classes. In 2018, feeling unsatisfied with group lessons alone, Zhang began private weekly lessons with Master Luo, which continue to this day. In 2022, he received a teaching certification from Yizong Baguazhang, earning international coaching credentials and founding "Biyan Dojo."
Master Zhang identifies as both a practitioner and a researcher of martial arts. He has over ten years of experience teaching martial arts, parkour, and acrobatics to students ranging from 6 to 60 years old. His teaching style is highly appreciated by his students, as he skillfully integrates their personal sports and life experiences to explain body mechanics and technical concepts in relatable terms. In addition to individual technique training, he emphasizes the connections and strategic interplay between techniques. Through a systematic training approach, students learn to respond appropriately and strategically in real-time scenarios. Besides his expertise in the Yizong Baguazhang and Xingyiquan systems, he regularly travels to Japan to study Yagyū Shinkage-ryū swordsmanship in one-on-one sessions at the Yagyū Tengu Dojo.

吳柏夆老師

In 1976, he was born in Hsinchu City. During high school, he studied Chen-style Taijiquan for three years. However, during this period, he began to question the existence and relevance of traditional martial arts, pondering why these skills have been passed down through generations while maintaining their uniqueness. This curiosity led him to participate in pushing hands competitions, research classical martial arts literature, and exchange ideas with other martial arts enthusiasts, yet he still struggled to find a clear path.
In 2002, he came across an introduction to the Yizong lineage and decided to join Master Luo's classes at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, embarking on a renewed journey to delve into Yizong Baguazhang. However, starting in 2004, due to work and family commitments, he was forced to temporarily step away from this path.
During his time away, he explored various martial arts forms but could not find one that truly resonated with his inner aspirations. When he finally had more freedom and energy, he decided to refocus on a single martial art and dedicate himself entirely to it.
In 2014, he returned to Yizong Baguazhang, deeply grateful for Master Luo’s unwavering support. Since then, he has restarted his training and continues to make progress to this day.
